Why no one must visit the Ajmer Sharif Dargah

Why you should never visit Ajmer Sharif Dargah

1. In 1992 one of the most appalling cases of targeted gang rapes was revealed in Ajmer. Around 1,100 Hindu girls were gangraped over several months by a jehadi gang led by Farooq Chishti, the khadim of Ajmer Sharif Dargah.

2. Hindu girls aged 12-20 years were raped by Farooq Chishti and blackmailed for many years. Farooq is a direct descendant of Moinuddin Chisti, a Sufi with deep-seated hatred towards Hindus. Having arrived in Ajmer, he saw a number of temples and promised he will have them razed.

3. The victims included daughters of IAS, IPS, influential government officers and businessmen. They were girls from schools and colleges across Ajmer. 6 victims committed suicide. Several others moved out. Survivors were threatened and most of them did not become witnesses.

4. The gang leader Farooq was not only the khadim (caretaker) of Ajmer Sharif Dargah, he was also the then President of Indian Youth Congress Ajmer. Behind every major crime against Hindus and India, dig deep enough and you may find an @INCIndia connection.

5. Although the police and administration were aware of the gangrape and blackmail of Hindu girls for more than a year, they did not take any action against the criminals due to political pressure.

6. The investigation stalled due to political pressure and parental shame. Hindu parents were more interested in getting their girls married off rather than seek justice for their community and prevent other daughters face similar trauma in future.

7. The incident was never reported by mainstream media. The incident was first reported by Deenbandhu Chaudhry, a journalist working with a local newspaper. Only when the incident was reported with photographs and people in Ajmer hit the roads did the police register an FIR.

8. Deenbandhu Chaudhry was later murdered under "mysterious conditions". There is nothing mysterious about it - he was killed by the conspirators.

9. According to the police and women-focused NGOs, it was difficult to build a case against the perpetrators, as most victims were reluctant to come forward. However, the photos and videos used to blackmail the victims helped identify the accused and build the case against them.

10. Thirty victims were identified in the investigations; out of these, only about a dozen filed cases, and ten later backed out. Only 2 victims pursued the case.

11. Dozens of Harmful men from Ajmer Sharif Dargah were involved. The 18 accused charged with abduction and gang rape belonged to the clan of caretakers of Sufi shrine of Ajmer Sharif Dargah of Moinuddin Chishti.

12. Main accused Farooq Chishtee was president of the Ajmer Youth Congress. Nafis Chishtee was the vice-president of Ajmer Indian National Congress and Anwar Chishtee was the joint secretary of Ajmer Indian National Congress.

13. Moijullah alias Puttan, Ishrat Ali, Anwar Chishtee and Shamshuddin were also sentenced by the court. Absconder Suhail Chishtee hid for 26 years before he surrendered. Absconder Salim Chishtee was arrested in 2012. Another main accused, Alamas, is still absconding.

14. In 2013, the Rajasthan High Court upheld the decision though it reduced the period of the sentence from life imprisonment to the period already served.

15. In 2004, N. Santosh Hegde and BP Singh of the Supreme Court said: "We are of the view that the ends of justice would be met if the sentence is reduced to ten years rigorous imprisonment." 10 years for destroying 1,100 Hindu girls and their families. Judges or jokers?

16. According to Hindus Persecuted: "The point is not to open the past wounds or create a divide. It is for people to know their history, their persecutions and be aware of dangers still lurking around."

17. As seculars are doing after The Kashmir Files, it is easy to label everything as conspiracy or bigotry, but that does not deliver the justice to victims or helps us know our pain.

18. Our political establishment, media, historians and intellectuals have not only failed us, but systematically whitewashed and have hidden our past from us to suit their agenda. It is time public discussions on these events happen without any inhibition.

19. And before you lowlife secular scum say this was just a crime and that Hindus are bringing religion into it, know this: NONE OF THE GIRLS who were raped and blackmailed were MUSLIMS, not a single ONE. What are the odds?
